The innovative and analytical backup to all products of Biotechnology Resource
Centre (BRC), Mumbai, comes from its state-of-the-art facilities. BRC is recognized
by the Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi as one of the leading
laboratory undertaking research in the field of biotechnology. Research and
Development is an ongoing process at the Badlapur production unit of BRC. The
unit has sophisticated equipment and instruments like automated fermentors,
microbial shakers, clean air work stations, spectrophotometers, electrophoresis
apparatus and research microscopes etc.
The basic research involves isolation of new microorganisms from different sources and studying their performance and symbiotic relationship with plants, finding bio-synthetic pathways to get more insight into the crop physiology.

The search for increased and efficient production of enzymes, co-enzymes and other useful micro-nutrients, in addition to screening of more active cellulose degraders, nitrogen fixers, phosphate solubilizers and potassium enrichers is being undertaken at all times by a team of scientists at the research laboratory of Biotechnology Resource Centre under the guidance of Drs. Sudhir D. Ghatnekar and Mahavash F. Kavian. In addition, we are also incessantly searching for new plant sources giving nutritional, pesticidal and repellent effects. |
